Electricity costs are up over 30%. For many independent schools, that’s hundreds of thousands of dollars in unplanned spending. Arch Energy, Consigli’s energy division, empowers schools to take control by benchmarking operations, leveraging real data to gain visibility into energy use and uncovering quick wins in your highest-use areas like dining halls, ice rinks and pools.

Our Solution: Performance-Driven Action

Our approach is grounded in data, tailored to unique constraints and guided by long-term thinking. These three steps can help your school shift away from quick fixes and toward long-term performance.

Step 1: Centralize Your Utility Data

Bring all your utility accounts and building automation systems into one place. When data is unified, facility teams gain real-time visibility into building performance, making it easier to track usage, benchmark efficiency and spot opportunities to reduce waste. This transparency also helps your campus community—students, faculty and parents—to see progress toward sustainability goals.

Step 2: Start Small

Most buildings lose 30–50% of energy through ventilation, heat rejection or inefficient systems. Begin by analyzing your centralized data to uncover quick wins like optimizing airflow, reusing heat or lowering hot water temperatures. These small changes can significantly cut energy demand and operating costs while setting the stage for long-term improvements.

Step 3: Build a Plan That Works for Your School

Use the insights from your data to create a roadmap tailored to your budget and timeline. A clear plan helps prioritize actions that reduce energy costs and free up funds to reinvest where it matters most: enhancing learning environments and supporting your students and faculty.

Arch Energy acts as your partner throughout this process, providing the tools to centralize your data, uncover actionable insights and guide you in building a practical, cost-effective energy roadmap that’s right for your campus.

Where We’re Doing It

Energy Optimization at Phillips Academy — Andover

When Phillips Academy set out to optimize energy use across its campus, the goal was clear: reduce costs and carbon footprint while empowering students to take part in the journey. By integrating 240 electric, steam and HVAC data points across 75 buildings, the school gained real-time insights that transformed decision-making. The results speak for themselves: upwards of 10% in energy savings and a campus-wide culture shift. During the student-led Green Cup Challenge, dorms competed to lower their energy use, achieving 6.3% reductions and sparking conversations about sustainability that extended beyond the classroom.

The modernization of the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft showcases a landmark achievement in historic preservation and architectural innovation. Faced with humidity and strict preservation requirements, the team installed a custom structural glass wall system with embedded heating to prevent condensation, protect historic materials and enable digital projections onto the Undercroft’s original surfaces.

Each glass panel, fabricated overseas, was meticulously tested and maneuvered through narrow openings using specialized equipment and coordinated crews. The completed system offers controlled visual access to the Undercroft, safeguards the space from environmental impacts and sets the stage for the National Park Service’s dynamic museum exhibits, while preserving the monument’s iconic character.

Consigli is leading the way in sustainable construction by embedding circular economy principles into every project, reducing waste and maximizing reuse. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, more than 75% of construction and demolition waste could be reused, repurposed or recycled, yet most of it ends up in landfills. The realities of deadlines, budget constraints and limited supply chain infrastructure force the disposal of reusable resources—like lumber, equipment and overstock—complicating the shift toward a circular construction. At Consigli, we’re proving there’s another way. By embedding circularity into our operations, we’re turning construction waste into a resource that supports new work, reduces costs and advances sustainable building with strategies that can be scaled industry-wide.

Consigli’s Circular Construction Model

Consigli’s circular construction strategies are built on three key pillars:

1. Internal infrastructure;
2. Strategic investment in circular materials and equipment; and
3. The right partners.

Internal Infrastructure

Our fully integrated Supply and Equipment division is backed by Consigli-owned warehouses, trucks, labor and systems that streamline logistics and accelerate procurement. This unique infrastructure enables our team to recover excess materials from jobsites and return them to our warehouses where they’re cataloged, preserved and prioritized for reuse. When another Consigli site requests materials or equipment, our centralized purchasing team’s first step is to evaluate what’s available internally, minimizing new purchases and keeping valuable resources in circulation. By tapping into our existing inventory, we reduce waste, cut costs and improve speed to site—all while advancing our circular construction operations.

Strategic Investment in Circular Materials and Equipment

Selecting products with long lifespans reduces reliance on single-use resources while lowering procurement costs and waste removal fees. Take STARC panels—modular wall systems designed for repeated use—for instance. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Consigli deployed more than 1.5 miles of these walls on emergency healthcare projects, including triage units at local hospitals. With dedicated warehousing and logistics in place to collect, store and redistribute recycled construction materials, those same STARC panels remain in active use across Consigli projects today. This kind of strategic investment in durable, reusable materials and equipment reduces environmental impact and delivers measurable cost savings across projects.

The Right Partners

Engaging the right partners is essential to closing resource loops across the value chain and extending circular strategies beyond a single organization. By working with like-minded organizations, we amplify impact. Through our partnership with Evolve Resource Management (EvolveRM), we transformed our dated hardhats into plastic pellets, which were then used to manufacture pallets. These pallets are now actively used by our Supply and Equipment division. In the Boston market, Consigli also deploys Wasted* portable restrooms—units that use diversion technology to convert human waste into slow-release fertilizer for gardening. Partnerships like these ensure that waste-to-resource solutions are not just internal goals. They’re shared, long-term commitments.

Scaling Circularity Across the Construction Industry

Consigli’s circularity model challenges the notion that sustainable building is a cost center. By implementing systems that streamline material reuse and reduce construction waste, the model directly addresses rising costs, resource scarcity and the growing demand for sustainable practices. Now, Consigli is committed to building a collaborative circular economy in construction where contractors share recycled construction materials across job sites and organizations, transforming surplus into opportunity. This scalable approach sets a new industry standard, proving that waste reduction, resource sharing and sustainable construction can drive both operational efficiency and long-term environmental impact.

“Consigli’s circularity model has the potential to reshape construction’s environmental footprint—turning waste into opportunity. We’ve seen firsthand how this approach delivers operational efficiency, financial value and measurable sustainability for our clients and our jobsites.”

Jon Burton, Director of Supply and Equipment

BOSTON, MA – バカラ カジノ has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe for the 17th year in a row.

Members of the Consigli team celebrated the award at an event on December 2, where the company was also recognized as one of the longest-running companies on the annual list.

Each year, companies and workplaces across Massachusetts are recognized by The Boston Globe as Top Places to Work based on employee feedback captured through surveys. The survey measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. The employers are placed into one of four groups: small (50-99 employees); medium (100-249 employees); large (250-999 employees); and largest (1,000 or more employees).

This recognition in the large employers category was earned through Consigli’s commitment to fostering a strong culture, generous benefits and opportunities for development for its employees. HARTFORD, CT – バカラ カジノ and the Consigli Foundation recently partnered with Circle of Care, a Connecticut-based nonprofit that provides practical, emotional and financial assistance to the families of children with cancer, to perform a room makeover for a local teen undergoing cancer treatment.

For several weeks, Consigli volunteers worked closely with 13-year-old Elijah Randolph and his family to design a brand-new bedroom of his dreams to help support his physical, emotional and mental healing. After finalizing the design, members of the Consigli team transformed Elijah’s room – complete with UConn Huskies memorabilia and a new loft area – over the course of two weekends.

The Consigli volunteers who made Elijah’s room makeover possible were on hand to celebrate the big reveal with the Randolph Family and witness Elijah’s excitement firsthand.

The room makeover, Circle of Care’s impact and Elijah’s inspiration to create his own foundation to give back to other kids navigating their own cancer journeys – Elijah’s Entourage – was also highlighted by WTNH News8. Members of the Consigli team, Circle of Care leadership and the Randolph Family were interviewed at Consigli’s Hartford office to share more about their rewarding experience and continued partnership.

This team truly lived up to our motto of ‘Building Beyond Ourselves,’ and we received the seal of approval from our newest family member with a resounding, ‘it’s everything I wanted and more!’– Carlos Vega, Consigli Business Development Manager

As part of its commitment to positively impacting the communities where its teams live and work, Consigli offers employees 24 paid volunteer hours to use annually so that they can give back to local causes and organizations like Circle of Care.

Circle of Care was established more than 20 years ago with the mission of supporting families navigating pediatric cancer diagnoses, and to date, has completed more than 180 room makeovers for local children. The Consigli Foundation has long been a supporter of Circle of Care, and Bill Allan, Consigli Regional Director – Hudson Valley, serves on the organization’s Board of Directors.

MILFORD, MA – バカラ カジノ today announced that five of its projects in New York and New England have been honored by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in the publication’s annual Regional Best Project Awards, which celebrate overall construction excellence across key market sectors industrywide.

In New York, Consigli received the Best Project Award in the K-12 Education category, as well as Awards of Merit in both the K-12 Education and the Restoration/Renovation categories. In New England, Consigli received the Best Project Award in the Higher Education/Research category and an Award of Merit in the Energy/Industrial category.

Read more about each of the five award-winning projects below:

ENR New York Awards
Best K-12 Education Project: Alice Dodge Wallace ’38 Center for Performing Arts
Consigli transformed Emma Willard School’s historic, century-old Alumnae Chapel into a state-of-the-art performing arts center and community hub, preserving 80% of the original structure to avoid 6,000 metric tons of embodied carbon. The renovation restored the limestone façade, slate roof, and baroque organ while adding a 20,000-square-foot subterranean arts wing beneath a green roof to expand theater, music, and dance resources—all designed for enhanced acoustics, sustainability and modern functionality.

K-12 Education Award of Merit: Allen Center for the Creative Arts and Technology
Hackley School’s Allen Center for the Creative Arts and Technology is a new 50,000 sq. ft. hub for creative learning, complete with a 550-seat auditorium, black box theater, art gallery and advanced digital media labs. Built with 700 tons of steel to achieve its striking curvature and cantilevers, the LEED Gold-certified facility integrates layered acoustic systems and a rainwater harvesting green roof for sustainability. Consigli overcame significant site challenges, including excavating more than 15,000 cubic yards of granite and installing over 300 rock nails for stabilization, while minimizing disruption to campus operations.

Restoration/Renovation Award of Merit: NYBCe Consolidated Campus
To create New York Blood Center (NYBC) Enterprises’ first-ever consolidated campus, Consigli transformed the former Avon headquarters into a 185,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that houses NYBC’s lifesaving research, blood collection, and cell therapy manufacturing operations. The adaptive reuse project integrated 600+ pieces of lab equipment within the existing footprint, leveraging five low-clearance mechanical mezzanines and advanced laser scanning for precision. Featuring high-efficiency heat pumps with heat recovery and a specialized vivarium, the facility sets a new standard for sustainable laboratory design in urban environments.

ENR New England Awards

Ragon 2.0 in Kendall Square creates a 323,000-square-foot hub for cutting-edge medical research, featuring advanced wet and dry labs, tissue culture rooms, and a vivarium. Its centerpiece—a dramatic single-helix staircase—connects collaborative spaces within a complex façade of 15 systems, 120,000 square feet of curtain wall, and a mass timber skylight. Built on a tight urban site with extensive prefabrication and design-assist coordination, the LEED Gold-certified, all-electric-ready building exceeds efficiency goals by 60%, incorporating triple-pane glazing, heat recovery systems, and a vegetated roof for sustainability and urban ecology.

Energy/Industrial Award of Merit: UNH Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Tank
Consigli and its energy division, Arch Energy, delivered a 1.4-million-gallon Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank for the University of New Hampshire—an innovative solution equivalent to a 15,000-kWh battery. Designed to store 10,400 ton-hours of chilled water for release during peak demand, the $10.3 million project significantly reduces energy costs and environmental impact. Delivered using a design-build approach, the team overcame confined-space and high-angle challenges with enhanced safety protocols and community training. As a cornerstone of UNH’s WildCAP climate action plan, the TES tank sets a model for higher education decarbonization and long-term sustainability.

Project teams recognized by ENR’s panel of judges were evaluated on their ability to overcome challenges, contribute to industry innovation and benefit the community, as well as overall excellence in design, construction and safety execution.

Award-winning projects and teams will be honored at regional event celebrations this winter, as well as featured in ENR’s November issue.
